Couponing Basics

I know this can get very confusing but stay with me here. I found this and thought I could not explain it any better!!!!! This is not a current deal just an example.

Buy One, Get One Free coupons provide great savings potential and frankly, are a lot of fun to use! Unfortunately there are many misconceptions surrounding how you can use BOGO coupons. Hopefully after reading this, you’ll understand well enough that you can educate your stores, as often they will not know any of this!
Here’s a typical scenario where you purchase two products and use a BOGO coupon to get one of them for free (essentially a 50% savings, when you buy 2)

Buy 2 Silk Pure Almond Milk $3.00 each
Use 1 Buy One, Get One Free Manufacturer Coupon (subtract $3.00)
Final Price: $1.50 each, when you buy 2

Now that you’ve got the basic, we’ll take it to step 2. At most stores, you can use another “value-off” coupon on the qualifying purchase item. One manufacturer coupon counts toward the “free” item and the other counts toward the qualifying purchase item. So you still have to “Buy product 1″ to “Get product 2 free”, but now product one costs $1.25 less because of the manufacturer coupon.

Buy 2 Silk Pure Almond Milk $3.00 each
Use 1 Buy One, Get One Free Manufacturer Coupon (subtract $3.00)
And use 1 $1.25/1 Manufacturer Coupon
Final Price: $0.87 each, when you buy 2

Here’s a scenario where you purchase more than just two items. You might do this if you’re looking to stock-up on the sale items, or if you have 2 BOGO coupons and a value-off coupon worth $2.00/2 or $1.00/2 or $X.XX/2.

Buy 4 Silk Pure Almond Milk $3.00 each
Use 2 Buy One, Get One Free Manufacturer Coupon (subtract $6.00)
And use 2 $1.25/1 Manufacturer Coupon
Final Price: $0.87 each, when you buy 4

Lastly, here’s what can happen when a store advertises a Buy One, Get One Free promo in their weekly ad (often drugstores do this for makeup), or if the store puts out a BOGO coupon to clip. A store running a BOGO offer or a BOGO coupon, is just their way of discounting the product (by half, when you buy 2). In the below example, the store is essentially giving you $3.00 off your $6.00 purchase. The manufacturer will reimburse the store for the other item, so it’s no different than you paying cash.

Buy 2 Silk Pure Almond Milk $3.00 each
Use 1 Buy One, Get One Free Manufacturer Coupon (subtract $3.00)
And Use 1 Buy One, Get One Free store Coupon (subtract $3.00)
Final Price: Both Free*

*If your store allows overage (and nearly all stores do NOT allow overage), you could also use one $1.25/1 manufacturer coupon and make the following a moneymaker! You cannot use two manufacturer BOGO coupons to get 2 products free.

I hope this helps you in any way. If you have any question please let me know.
Thanks so much Krazy Coupon Lady.
